Frequently Asked Questions

How is this project different than other attempts to address the rink issues?

Previous proposals included a large new arena with minor alterations to the existing rink. This project is intended to upgrade mechanical, ice making and rink systems and add contemporary space requirements to player and public use areas.

Will the renovation mean the rink will have to close to complete the project?

No. Work will be completed in such a way that it will not interfere with the normal skating schedule, opening in Fall and closing in Spring. The plan is that this will take two or three cycles to complete.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Absolutely your gift is tax deductible.

Will the facility be able to be used outside of skating season?

Currently, our zoning and land use approvals do not allow activity outside skating season, and we have no such programming planned.

However, we do plan to replace our sand floor with a concrete slab, which will help us make better ice, more efficiently.

This concrete floor installation will of course be ready to accommodate wider use as needs and approvals evolve over the 30 year time horizon of the project.

Why should I donate if I don’t skate or use the arena?

Campion Rink is and has been a wonderful community asset for many years and will be for many more. It serves people of all ages - many of your friends and neighbors - and it is a terrific venue for all to enjoy.
